Stories from Parents

"We love this school. Our plan was to homeschool and when we started to attend Base Church and heard of their school we were excited for this opportunity! We have been part of the BCS (KCA) school family for 3 years now and it’s amazing. The teachers are excellent and provide a safe, educational environment where the kids feel loved, seen, cared for and encouraged to follow the plan God has for them. Being able to send our kiddos to this school has been a life changer and is worth every penny and every sacrifice we have needed to make. 100% recommend from the Buruma Family."

Maria Buruma

"Moving our daughter to Base Christian School has been one of the best decisions we have made for her education and personal growth. From the very first day, we noticed a positive difference—not only in her academics, but also in her confidence, friendships, and character. The teachers truly care for the students, taking the time to support them both inside and outside the classroom. We love that the values taught at home are being reinforced at school, creating a strong foundation rooted in faith, kindness, and respect. Our daughter comes home excited to share what she has learned, and we can see her thriving in an environment that challenges her academically while also nurturing her spiritually."

Nicole Cairney

"As parents, we wanted more than just strong academics for our children—we wanted a place where faith, character, and learning go hand in hand. From the moment we walked through the doors of BCS, we knew we had found something special. The teachers care goes above and beyond anything we have experienced, It is so comforting. They not only challenge our children academically but also pray with them, encourage them, and model Christ-like values every day. Our kids come home excited about what they’re learning, both in the classroom and in their walk with the Lord. We are deeply grateful for the loving community here and the way this school partners with us in raising our children to know and love Jesus."

Mike & Rosie Eby

"At BCS, our children have truly flourished. We’ve seen growth not only in their academics but also in their spiritual lives, friendships, and overall confidence. The teachers and staff are some of the most caring and dedicated educators we’ve ever met, and the support they provide has been above and beyond what we expected. What makes it even more special is that our kids actually look forward to going to school each morning. They feel safe, loved, and valued in an environment that is rooted in Christ. We are confident that BCS is equipping them to be well-rounded, Christ-centered individuals who are ready to impact the world in a positive way."

Mariah Preis

"BCS provides a great education, with small class sizes where kids get the attention they need. I truly believe every educator at BCS wants my children to succeed academically. And though we are not a Base Church family, the faith based values of the school align with the values we want our kids to have and be surrounded by. "

Does BCS have arrangements with a bus service for transportation assistance?

Yes! Bus service is available for most families at an additional annual cost. This is an optional service—families who wish to use it can contact the school for details and current rates.

How are Tuition Payments made?

Tuition fees are to be paid in advance, either in full (lump sum), or by 10-monthly installments via pre-authorized debit (preferred method), or monthly post-dated cheques and submitted within 15 days of the first day of school. Activity fees are paid in full at the beginning of the school year with the first invoice. All exceptions or alternative payment options must be pre-approved by the Principal.

Does the school issue tax receipts?

Yes, Koinonia Christian Academy is a registered charity with the CRA. KCA provides a charitable donation receipt, if applicable, for the portion of tuition paid above the calculated cost per pupil in a calendar year. Receipts are issued annually only to eligible families, typically at the beginning of March each year.

How is my tax receipt amount calculated?

Yes! Bus service is available for most families at an additional annual cost. This is an optional service—families who wish to use it can contact the school for details and current rates.

How is the amount of the tax receipt determined?

The portion of the tuition fee payments that is eligible for a charitable donation receipt is determined based upon Canada Revenue Agency’s information circular 75-23, paragraph 7 and 8. Since KCA implements an incremental family tuition rate, the more children you have that are enrolled full time, the smaller your charitable tax receipt would be.

The specific calculation to determine the cost per pupil is completed each year and therefore the cost per pupil amount fluctuates.

See the following examples HERE. Each family’s tax situation varies:

In accordance with the Canada Revenue Agency’s guidelines, child care expenses may be claimed in certain situations where a person paid to have someone care for an eligible child in order to work, run a business, or attend school. KCA provides a tax receipt for tuition paid for students in the JK program that a parent may claim as a deduction on their income tax return.

When you take into consideration the tax deductions and credits, quality Christian education can be even more affordable.

Does the school offer any tuition discounts?

Yes! We have two discounts available.

Does BCS offer any financial aid or have a tuition assistance program?
